Hokey Pokey Science Explanation

Scientists: Anabelle
Aim:
What causes the hokey pokey mixture to puff up?
What happens to the sugar mixture if you don’t add baking soda?
What happens to the hokey pokey if you put it into water?


Variable Change and Hypothesis - what happens if?
  1. Control recipe
     I think the hokey pokey will be crunchie, soft in the middle. I also think the hokey pokey will be a little hard and sticky
Because when I felt sharon's hokey pokey it was a little hard and sticky.
Results the hokey pokey was clear like class you had to suck on it because it was hard and it would hurt your teeth                                                                                                                                                                       

  1. Double the baking soda
     I think the hokey pokey will be a little bit harder than the first one. 
Because the first control recipe seems hard when i look at it.
Results double the baking soda was hard on the outside on the inside it was crumbly and soft.

  1. Four times the amount of baking soda 
     I think the hokey pokey will be really sticky and hard
I think that because I think the more baking powder the more hard and i just guest it will get more sticky.

4) No baking soda 
     I think the hokey pokey will be very sticky I think the baking powder forms it a little bit


5) Control  recipe put into ice
     I think the hokey pokey will be melted, sticky, hard on the inside because the ice would melt then the hokey pokey would melt i think the inside of the hokey pokey will melt i think the outside of the hokey pokey will be hard because  hokey pokey is normally hard and crunchy
